Emanuel Andrén
CEO and Chocolate Artist
Award-winning chocolatier, Emanuel Andren grew up in the small town of Lilla Edet, Sweden; approximately a 5 hour drive southwest of Stockholm. Emanuel's family history in the area can be traced back to 1868 when the first generation began creating delicious artisan breads and pastries for the townsfolk. Indeed, many of Emanuel's fondest childhood memories are of his grandmother and father baking breads, pies, cakes and confections as he assisted with the daily tasks and running of the family bakery.
As a young student, Emanuel developed a keen sense for craftsmanship and excelled in arts and design. Once finished with his studies, he decided to pursue a career in marketing and advertising but after working in this field for a few years, Emanuel found himself drawn back to Lilla Edet and his family's business. Clearly his artistic talents in art and design could also be expressed in sugar and flour form rather than on paper. Eventually, he found himself alongside his father, Manne, amidst the creams and fillings creating exquisite wedding cakes and delectable pastries.
With his creative energy and desire to learn new pastry techniques, Emanuel pursued additional education in confections where his passion for chocolate took hold. Cooking delicious creamy truffles and creating artistic shapes and forms from chocolate was the perfect combination of art, design and taste. Each confection was a chance to develop something new and exciting for people to eat. Inspired by his new passion, Emanuel immediately looked for opportunities to produce and sell chocolate confections and gourmet marmalades.
In 2002, with the help of a marketing colleague, Emanuel successfully launched Ganache AB with a sales outlet in the nearby downtown of Trollhättan. After two years, he realized the great potential for producing and distributing products throughout his homeland and abroad. He decided to close the store and focus solely on the production, marketing, and distribution of his unique products around the world.
Today, with his wife and two children by his side, Emanuel works daily with creative developments in taste, experimental flavors and design. The business, the products and his passion for art and chocolate have been part of a larger evolution around confections and the chocolate industry.
With roots still connected to the traditional family bakery in Lilla Edet, Emanuel has produced and sold chocolates and confections throughout Sweden and his products have been enjoyed by the Emperor of Japan, The Royal Family of Sweden, the stars of the 50th Grammy Awards and many chocolate lovers around the globe.
